Highland Capital pours $2.1M into MIT alum-founded web startup

By Galen Moore

Highland Capital Partners is wiring $2.1 million to New York in a Series A round for Pixable Inc., a Manhattan-based company founded by MIT graduates that is developing a web-based service for printing photos from Facebook, Flickr and other online photo-sharing sites. The funding was disclosed Friday afternoon in a regulatory filing.

Highland general partner Bob Davis will join the startup’s board of directors.

Founders Inaki Berenguer, Andres Blank and Alberto Sheinfeld are former MIT students. They told Boston Globe reporter Scott Kirsner the startup’s location was a toss-up between Boston, New York and San Francisco – but New York drew the team as a media and advertising center.
