Verizon launches fundraising program to assist nonprofits
A new service from Verizon Communications Inc. has been rolled out that will allow Massachusetts to earn money for their organizations when their members or supporters purchase certain Verizon products. Verizon’s new Velocity program offers nonprofits the ability to earn donations when their members or supporters use a special toll-free number to purchase FiOS TV, FiOS Internet, High Speed Internet, FiOS Digital Voice, Freedom Calling, Long Distance, and DIRECTV (through Verizon’s marketing relationship with the satellite-TV provider). For example, the company said nonprofits can earn up to $65 for a member’s single order of a FiOS Triple Play bundle that includes long-distance. As an added incentive, Verizon said it will double its donation, to as much as $130, for nonprofits whose members place orders before June 30.
