GT Solar catches $70M+ deal for polysilicon production

By Kyle Alspach

GT Solar International Inc. announced Tuesday that it has signed contracts worth more than $70 million for equipment and services used in the production of polysilicon.

The contracts are with an Asian polysilicon manufacturer that was not named in a news release.

GT Solar, based in Merrimack, N.H., will be providing chemical vapor deposition reactors – high-volume production chambers used to manufacture semiconductor-grade or solar-grade polysilicon. The company will also be providing related photovoltaic manufacturing services.

In February, GT Solar announced more than $200 million in new contracts for the company’s DSS450 ingot growth furnaces and ancillary equipment and services.
