Evergreen Solar Inc. plans to unveil its new line of higher-efficiency solar panels during a solar conference in Germany that starts Wednesday.
The ES-D and ES-E series of panels for residential and commercial markets feature Evergreen’s new Boost cell technology, the Marlborough-based company said. The technology uses micro wires rather than conventional bus-bars to reduce cell shading and improve current collection, with the aim of increasing the overall panel efficiency, according to the company.
The new panels will be available commercially starting in the fourth quarter of this year, the company said. The panels will be unveiled at Intersolar 2010 in Munich, Germany, which takes place Wednesday through Friday.
Evergreen reported that shipments rose to 35.4 megawatts in the first quarter from 31.9 megawatts in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Evergreen manufactures solar cells and assembles solar panels at a facility in Devens. The company plans to move the panel assembly operation to China by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
