Startup Watch: Five you should follow

As part of each week’s Startup Report, Mass High Tech highlights five startup companies, and their business goals, that are profiled in the New England Tech Directory. With each week's Startup Watch, Mass High Tech will choose the weekly featured companies by soliciting nominations through a poll of 10 companies, with links to their profiles in the New England Tech Directory. Cykod.com: Boston-based Cykod.com was founded by a husband and wife team in 2007 to provide web design tools. Among their current projects is a Ruby on Rails-based content management system called Webiva, which aims to help marketers create websites for their clients.
Fashion Playtes Inc.: The Salem-based company provides an online software tool for users, primarily young girls, to design customized clothing. Users have the option to purchase the clothing items they design.
Sustainable Minds LLC: Sustainable Minds develops an on-demand systems for combining life cycle assessment software with education and community to help companies create products with a more ecofriendly footprint. Using the company’s SaaS, product makers can create benchmarks, track costs and compare performances of their products for reducing their environmental impact and energy usage.
TaskRabbit Inc.: Founded in 2008, Cambridge-based TaskRabbit provides an online marketplace for customers who need odd jobs done. Users post tasks to the website that other users can complete for a fee, a percentage of which TaskRabbit keeps as a comission.
Zazu Inc.: Founded at Startup Weekend in Boston in 2009, Zazu is a provider of mobile phone software designed to wake its user with customized news, weather and other data. The software, which reads this information out loud in place of an alarm, is currently undergoing beta testing.
