Raytheon wins weather forecast systems deal

Raytheon Co. won a $21.8 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for work on advanced weather-forecasting systems, the Waltham-based defense contractor announced Wednesday.

The contract came from the Air Force’s Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base.

The system Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) is working on “will substantially enhance battlespace awareness and mission execution for our military forces,” Gerard Wittman, director of Raytheon Space and Environmental Mission Solutions said in a prepared statement.
