Beth Israel board to discuss CEO Levy’s conduct

By Julie M. Donnelly

The board at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is set to meet this afternoon to discuss further the conduct of hospital CEO Paul Levy.

Last week, Beth Israel’s board of directors held two meetings following the receipt of an anonymous letter that alleged Levy engaged in inappropriate conduct, given his position at the hospital.

After last Monday’s meeting, board Chairman Stephen B. Kay released a statement, saying “Levy did acknowledge lapses of judgment in a personal relationship, and the board is taking appropriate action.”

Levy last week released his own note to Beth Israel staff, saying the board “found an instance in which I exercised poor judgment. I agree that the board’s conclusion is accurate, and I have apologized to them.”

Since then, Levy has refused to speak on the matter publicly.
