Spark Capital’s Rob Go departs for new stealthy venture

By Galen Moore

Rob Go has left Spark Capital to start a new venture yet to be named, he reported in his blog this morning.

Go, who last March helped launch Spark’s seed-investing vehicle, Start@Spark, was a principal at the Boston VC firm, which invests primarily in media and Internet companies, and is known for joining Twitter Inc.’s investors in 2008.

Go, who joined Spark in 2007 after working in marketing at eBay Inc., promised that details would be forthcoming about his next venture. “My co-founders and I have already begun laying the groundwork,” he wrote, “but we aren’t ready to talk openly about what we are doing just yet (stealth mode is back in vogue again, after all.)”

In his blog post, which also reflected on three lessons he learned at Spark, Go wrote that he does plan to continue to advise startups and make “a number of small angel investments,” while the new venture develops.

Any guesses on what Go may be up to — or what he should be focused on? Comment below.
