Vaultus sells to N.J. firm Antenna Software

By Mass High Tech staff

Vaultus Mobile Technologies Inc. of Boston has been acquired by New Jersey company Antenna Software Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The company will become an Antenna subsidiary and be known as Antenna Vaultus Inc.

According to company officials, Antenna Vaultus will stay in its current location in Boston following the purchase. Vaultus makes a product called mobiScaler, which allows enterprise clients to offer consumer-facing enterprise applications on their mobile devices. The two companies’ respective mobile technology platforms complement each other, Antenna said. Antenna’s platform is called AMP 3.0.

Vaultus was founded in 2000 as a spinout from MIT. Among its customers is E-Trade Group Inc., which launched its mobile application using Vaultus’ platform in the spring of 2008. Other customers include Merrill Lynch, Wachovia, ING, State Street, Prudential and Genzyme Corp.

Originally backed by CMGI Inc. and New York-based Investcorp, Vaultus was recapitalized in 2008, with $6 million from Investcorp, IDG Ventures, Susquehanna International Group LLP and Point Judith Capital Partners. The company launched its mobiScaler product in February of last year at Gartner Inc.’s Wireless & Mobile Summit.

For its part, privately held Antenna has connections to Massachusetts through its investors. The company is backed by Waltham-based firms North Bridge Venture Partners and Polaris Venture Partners, as well as Commonwealth Capital of Boston.
