Funds up for grabs by Conn. conservation projects
By Mass High Tech staff
The state of Connecticut reports it is taking bids for $20 million in stimulus funding for energy conservation projects in the Nutmeg State.
Gov. Jodi Rell announced earlier this week the state had received about $36 million of the $3.2 billion of bonds made available for energy conservation projects in Connecticut by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Of that $36 million, $20 million will be available to Connecticut cities and towns for energy projects in the form of Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds.
Of the $20 million, the U.S. Treasury Department has set aside $6.3 million in bonds for the state’s largest municipalities. Bridgeport will receive $1.4 million, Hartford and New Haven will each receive $1.3 million, Stamford will receive $1.2 million, and Waterbury will land $1.1 million.
The remaining $16 million will go toward energy conservation projects on state land.
