By Mass High Tech staff
Voice technology company Vivox Inc. has released a developer kit for integrating its voice technology into social networks including Facebook, Google Wave and Ning.
Vivox said its Social Voice Partner Program will include a web toolkit, sample code and support. Developers will also be able to generate revenue through audio advertising and virtual goods, according to the company.
The Natick-based company announced the availability of the developer kit at the DEMO Spring 2010 conference.
Last month, Vivox received $6.8 million in venture capital to expand its customer base of video game companies.
Last year, the company released an application for Facebook, Vivox Web Voice for Facebook, that enables users of the online social network to chat using voice. Around the same time, Vivox announced a partnership with Electronic Arts Inc., under which Vivox will provide voice software for the electronic arts game Command and Conquer 4.
Vivox was founded in 2005 by CEO Rob Seaver and Vonage Inc. co-founder Jeff Pulver.
