AS&E pulls in $8.2M inspection systems order
By Mass High Tech staff
American Science & Engineering Inc. reports it has brought in $8.2 million for cargo inspection systems from an unnamed customer.
The Billerica-based company said the cargo inspection systems will be used to scan vehicles for explosives and other contraband at high-risk locations in the Middle East.
In January, AS&E (Nasdaq: ASEI) took in two deals worth more than $45 million. The company landed a $39.7 million order for its cargo X-ray inspection systems from an unnamed government agency which planned to use the systems to screen cargo and vehicles passing through “strategic border crossings.” The company also brought in $5.8 million in a renewal of a previous deal from an unnamed Middle Eastern customer for cargo inspection equipment.
The company’s cargo inspection systems range from vans that provide drive-by detection of weapons and other illegal materials to portals that cargo vehicles drive through.
