Reveal Imaging lands $5.3M explosives detection deal
By Mass High Tech staff
Bedford-based airport security equipment maker Reveal Imaging Technologies Inc. has signed a $5.3 million deal with Israel Airports Authority (IAA) to provide Reveal Explosives Detection Systems (EDS) at several airport locations.
Under terms of the contract, IAA has the option to buy additional explosives detection systems.
A news release from Reveal Imaging notes that Israeli airports include a security regimen that requires every passenger to pass through a “thorough yet customer-focused” security check.
Reveal’s systems are based on dual-energy CT technology aimed at cutting size, cost and weight of the EDS systems.
Founded in 2002, Bedford-based Reveal Imaging is a privately held company that has carved a niche in bringing smaller automated baggage-screening technology to the aviation industry, which is required to inspect every package and bag going onto an airplane. The company has been growing due to its automation technology. Reveal Imaging told Mass High Tech last month that its philosophy of using its proprietary software to make scanners work more efficiently with less hardware, creating devices that are one-third the size and cost of its competitors, is key to company growth.
