NMT Medical completes scientific advisory board appointments

NMT Medical Inc., a Boston maker of medical implant technologies, has completed the appointments to its eight-member scientific advisory board, the company announced today.

The board consists of members in the cardiovascular and neurological medical fields, including:
    *Lee Benson, director, Cardiac Diagnostic and Interventional Unit, division of cardiology, The Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto)
    *Daniel Hanley, professor of neurology, neurosurgery and anesthesiology and critical care medicine, The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions (Baltimore)
    *Christian Jux, head, Pediatric Catheterisation Laboratory, Pediatric Heart Centre Giessen (Giessen, Germany)
    *Saibal Kar, director, Interventional Cardiac Research, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles)
    *Michael Landzberg, director, Boston Adult Congenital Heart and Pulmonary Hypertension Service, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Boston)
    *James Lock, chief, Department of Cardiology, Children’s Hospital Boston (Boston)
    *Ramon Quesada, medical director of interventional cardiology, Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute (Miami)
    *Robert Sommer, director of the Adult Invasive Congenital Heart Services, Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy, New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center (New York City)

According to the company, NMT Medical chose the eight scientific advisory board members for their experience in structural heart repair.

NMT Medical (Nasdaq: NMTI) develops implant technologies that treat structural heart disease using minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures. The company had cash and cash equivalents of $8.9 million at the end of 2009.
