Ruffolo appointed Crossbeam Systems CEO

By Mass High Tech staff

Crossbeam Systems Inc., a Boxborough-based security plaform developer for high-performance networks, has named Michael Ruffolo as its president and CEO. Ruffolo replaces former CEO Peter Fiore, who won a CEO of the Year — Private Company award at the 2009 MassNetComms Awards last April, but died in December.

Ruffolo formerly served as chairman, CEO and president of Liquid Machines, a Waltham-based Enterprise Rights Management software company. Prior to that, he held the chief operating officer role at Akamai Technologies Inc. and served as executive vice president of global sales, services and marketing at EMC Corp. He has previously worked for Xerox Corp. as president of the Document Solutions Group and as vice president and chief information officer at NCR Corp. He sits on the board of Atlanta-based Internap Network Services.

Founded in early 2000, Crossbeam is a maker of network security hardware. Like its former CEO, the company picked up a 2009 MassNetComms award for Company of the Year in the Broadband Infrastructure and Security category.
