Fitzgerald steps down from EMC board; DiStasio steps in

By Mass High Tech staff

EMC Corp. has announced the resignation of W. Paul Fitzgerald from the data storage giant’s board of directors, and his subsequent appointment as director emeritus. The Hopkinton company also noted that James S. DiStasio has been elected to the board of directors.

Fitzgerald is a former chief financial officer of EMC and a 20-year board member.

DiStasio joins the EMC board immediately and will be a member of the company’s audit committee. He retired from Ernst & Young LLP in 2007; he was an elected partner and a senior vice chairman and Americas chief operating officer. DiStasio also serves as a member of the NSTAR Corp. board of trustees.

EMC (NYSE:EMC) announced last week that it named Terry Breen, a former global managing partner at Accenture, as senior vice president of strategic alliances. Breen is responsible for establishing and growing the company’s relationships with its partners of outsourcing companies, systems integators and service providers.
