Ebling takes CEO reins at Demandware

By Mass High Tech staff

Tom Ebling, former CEO of ProfitLogic, has been named CEO of Demandware Inc., an ecommerce firm in Woburn. The company made the new appointment so that Ebling could lead Demandware’s “widespread market adoption of its on-demand ecommerce platform,” according to a press release from the company.

Ebling has most recently served as CEO of Lattice Engines Inc., a sales-oriented software firm in Boston. Prior to that, he worked for the merchandising optimization firm ProfitLogic before it was acquired by Oracle Corp. in 2005. He has also held the CEO role at Torrent Systems Inc., a data warehousing and analytics software provider that was bought in 2001 by Ascential Software Corp.

Ebling graduated from Williams College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.

Demandware, founded in 2004, is one of several types of e-commerce platform developers that fall into the console category, providing software for online retailers that lack information technology support and prefer to buy technology on a monthly subscription basis. Its investors include Cambridge-based General Catalyst Partners and Waltham-based North Bridge Venture Partners.
