Worcester Polytechnic Institute reports its president, Dennis Berkey, has been appointed to the Massachusetts Governor’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Advisory Council.
The council was established last October. The council is intended to work with families, educators and community leaders to promote STEM disciplines as a path to success for individual students. The Council plans to increase the number of STEM-related programs in Massachusetts schools and help create a statewide plan to promote STEM education.
Last month, the council met for the first time and announced that the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative will provide $500,000 in funds to support the administration’s budget proposal for investing in STEM resources through the STEM Pipeline Fund, which will offer resources to STEM networks throughout the Commonwealth.
Lt. Gov. Tim Murray chairs the Massachusetts STEM Advisory Council.
