Cambridge-based GenArts Inc. has acquired two plug-ins, Tinder and Tinderbox, from British visual effects software developer The Foundry, as part of a strategic alliance the two companies announced in a press release this morning.
As part of the agreement, GenArts assumes development, sales, marketing and customer support for the two software lines, and the two companies will work together so that the two companies’ future products will be more compatible. GenArts will also enter a co-marketing relationship with The Foundry on the British company’s Nuke compositor software.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
GenArts, has been acquiring companies at a steady clip since CEO Katherine Hays joined the company in 2008, adding a host of visual-effect plug-ins to its platform. Last year’s acquisitions included Wondertouch LLC, a St. Louis, Mo.-based digital animation software company, , and SpeedSix Software Ltd., a UK visual effects software firm.
In June, GenArts announced a partnership with Lucasfilm Ltd., providing the film studio with a standard set of tools it hopes will create a consistent visual-effects feel through its films, video games and other media produced in-house.
