Gilbane Group acquired by research firm Outsell

The Gilbane Group, a Cambridge-based information technology analysis and consulting firm, has been acquired by California and London research and advisory firm Outsell Inc.
The two companies announced the transaction in a press release today. As a result of the acquisition, The Gilbane Group will function as a division of Outsell and will be led by Frank Gilbane who will continue in the role of president, along with Mary Laplante as vice president client services and senior analyst and Bill Trippe as vice president of content strategies and lead analyst. The division will continue to operate in Cambridge.
Outsell officials said the acquisition rounds out its coverage of information providers, users, advertisers, libraries, enterprises and technologies.
Gilbane was founded in 1987 and covers such topics as web content management, enterprise search, social media, publishing, multilingual content, XML and XBRL.
