Sustainable Real Estate Solutions Inc., a developer of building energy efficiency and sustainability management software, announced Thursday it has received a $800,000 financing round from Cambridge-based LaunchCapital LLC and Rocky Hill, Conn.-based Connecticut Innovations Inc.
Connecticut Innovations, the state’s venture capital arm, invested $500,000 in the company through its Clean Tech Fund and, as part of the funding deal, director of investments Anil Vasagir will sit on Sustainable Real Estate Solutions’ board of directors.
“Buildings account for 38 percent of our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions and 39 percent of our energy use; it is imperative that we develop tools, such as those being introduced by SRS, to help us improve these statistics and increase our sustainability,” said Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell in a statement.
The Monroe, Conn., startup’s software is web-based and focuses on energy efficiency monitoring for commercial buildings. It also allows commercial real estate owners to measure its portfolio buildings’ sustainability performance against benchmarks like Energy Star and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, among others.
Sustainable Real Estate Solutions founder Brian McCarter was a part of the founding team at Environmental Data Resources Inc., another Connecticut Innovations portfolio company.
