Unica Corp. (Nasdaq: UNCA) on Monday announced it has acquired MakeMeTop, a paid search-bid management business owned by British software company Microchannel Ltd.
MakeMeTop is designed to let online marketers automate and optimize keyword buying across several search engines, using a single account. Waltham-based Unica will add MakeMeTop to its marketing software offerings under the new brand, Unica Search.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
It’s the second acquisition of 2010 for Unica, which last month bought Pivotal Veracity LLC, a Phoenix, Ariz.-based email marketing startup, for $17.8 million in cash.
Yesterday, Unica announced total revenue of $25.1 million for its Q1 2010, ending Dec. 31, 2009, for a net income of $1.8 million. The company lost top-line ground, compared with Q1 2009, when it earned $26.1 million but improved its profitability over the year-ago period, when it reported a $4.1 million loss. Unica is sitting on $49.8 million in cash. Its FY 2009 annual revenue was $100.6 million, for a $21.8 million loss.
