VistaPrint acquires custom clothing software firm

By Galen Moore

VistaPrint NV (Nasdaq: VPRT) announced this morning it has acquired Soft Sight Inc., the parent company of Threadsmith.com, a software-enabled custom-embroidered clothing service based in Endicott, N.Y.

The acquisition closed Dec. 30. VistaPrint now plans to add custom-embroidered clothing to VistaPrint’s line of print-media products aimed at the small to midsize business and consumer markets. In its press release today, VistaPrint cited Soft Sight’s software for rendering stitch patterns from custom designs uploaded to its website.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Thomson Reuters blog PEhub.com first broke news of the deal Friday,  reporting that Soft Sight has closed its Endicott headquarters, and its co-founders will move to VistaPrint’s U.S. headquarters in Lexington. Threadsmith.com is no longer taking new orders.
