Ipswitch unit WhatsUp Gold buys Georgia company

By Rodney H. Brown

Lexington-based Ipswitch Inc. reports that its network management division WhatsUp Gold has acquired Dorian Software Creations Inc., a Georgia-based maker of network security software, for an undisclosed amount. WhatsUp Gold will be adding Dorian Software’s patented event log management technology to its suite of network management solutions, according to officials.

Dorian Software, founded in 1997, is a self-funded, profitable business model, according to Ennio Carboni, president of Ipswitch’s WhatsUp Gold division. The company holds a patent on the technology behind its Event Log Management software.

Ipswitch started a strategy of growth through acquisition in February of 2008 with its purchase of Standard Networks Inc., a Madison, Wis.-based software company, for an undisclosed amount.

Ipswitch has been honored by Mass High Tech as a Tech Citizenship awardee for years, again being recognized at the most recent event held in November at the Seaport Hotel in South Boston.
