Landslide raises $8M, appoints former Mzinga CEO Faulk

By Mass High Tech staff

Former Mzinga Inc. CEO Rick Faulk has joined customer relationship management firm Landslide Technologies Inc. as its president and CEO. The news comes as Landslide also announced raising $8 million in a funding round led by Adams Capital Management, with additional participation from existing backers Draper Triangle Ventures and Osage Ventures.

Faulk left social media software company Mzinga voluntarily last March at the same time the company announced 40 layoffs. He helped Mzinga chairman and CEO Barry Libert launch the company in 2007 from a merger of two companies, but he left “for a mix of professional and personal reasons,” remaining as an investor in the company.

Faulk formerly served as CEO of Intranets.com in 2001, where he shifted from an advertising revenue model to an on-demand subscription model. In 2003, the transformed Intranets.com posted $6 million in revenue and became profitable before it was acquired by WebEx Communications Inc. for $45 million. At WebEx, he served as the chief marketing officer and president of WebEx Small Business. Faulk has also added to his resume such roles as CMO of Picturetel, CEO of First Software and VP Worldwide Marketing at Lotus Development Corp.

Landslide has office in Burlington and Pittsburgh. The company incorporates sales-performance technology with personal assistant services.
