Swift joins college and career firm ConnectEDU
By State House News Service
Former Massachusetts governor Jane Swift on Tuesday became the latest Beacon Hill politico to announce a move into the advocacy world, joining ConnectEDU Inc., a company that helps match students with information they need to make college and career decisions, as senior vice president of government solutions and strategy.
“My new role at ConnectEDU provides me with an opportunity to help both students and our public schools be successful,” Swift said in a statement issued through the company.
Swift served as acting governor from 2001 to 2003, stepping up from lieutenant governor after Gov. Paul Cellucci resigned to become U.S. Ambassador to Canada. Swift, a Republican, fashioned herself throughout her career as an advocate for education. She currently serves on the board of K12, an education technology company, and on the board of Sally Ride Science, which aims to spark youth interest in science, math and technology careers.
ConnectEDU’s headquarters is in Boston. Company officials say she’ll work with state leaders nationwide on education reform issues.
Founded in 2002, ConnectEDU generates revenue by charging colleges and employers that use the tool; its service is free for high schools and their students.
