General Dynamics' AMSEA nets $27M naval deal

By Brendan Lynch

General Dynamics Corp. reports its American Overseas Marine (AMSEA) division has landed $27.2 million from the U.S. Navy for operations and maintenance services on Navy ships.

Under the deal, Quincy-based AMSEA will provide full-service operations and maintenance for seven large, medium-speed, roll-on/roll-off (LMSR) vessels, including crewing, engineering, maintenance, procurement and provisioning. LMSRs are used to move military equipment for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, including tanks, trucks and other vehicles.

Earlier this month, two New England-based General Dynamics units took in a total of $15.5 million in contracts. The company’s Needham-based Information Technology division has landed $8.6 million to provide IT services to the U.S. Marines. Also in January, the Bath Iron Works unit landed $6.9 million from the U.S. Navy for engineering on Navy destroyers.

AMSEA is a division of Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).
