Adams named CFO of Athenahealth
By Mass High Tech Staff
Health care IT company Athenahealth has named Timothy Adams as its chief financial officer.
Adams will oversee the company’s finance, legal and investor relations functions and will report to CEO Jonathan Bush. Adams had been working as CIO at Constitution Medical Investors Inc., an investment firm focused on health care. Prior to Constitution, Adams served as CFO at Orthofix International NV in 2008. He has also worked as CFO at Modus Media International Inc., Geotrust, and Digex Inc. Adams also held a finance role at BBN Planet, a subsidiary of BBN Corp. A certified public accountant, Adams also worked as an auditor at Price Waterhouse. Adams holds a master’s degree in business administration from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Murray State University.
Adams replaces Carl Byers, who announced last year that he planned to retire in 2010. Byers had served as CFO since Watertown-based Athenahealth (NASDAQ: ATHN) was founded in 1997, the company said. Byers will continue as an adviser to the company.
