
Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. has landed $34.7 million from the U.S. Navy for maintenance on fighter planes used in training exercises, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Under the deal, a modification to a previously won deal, Sikorsky’s Aerospace Maintenance division will exercise and option for organizational, selected intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance for 44 F-5 aircraft operated by adversary squadrons, groups of planes used to impersonate enemy aircraft in war games and training exercises.
Work on the contract will be performed in Key West, Fla., Fallon, Nev., and Yuma, Ariz., and is expected to be completed by December.
Last week, Stratford, Conn.-based Sikorsky landed $8.2 million from the U.S. Navy for 22 transmissions for UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters.
Sikorsky is a subsidiary of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). United Technologies reported a net income of $1.1 billion on revenue of $13.4 billion for the quarter ended September 30.
