Hanke to head BioVex commercialization
By Mass High Tech staff
BioVex Inc., a Woburn-based developer of cancer and infectious disease drugs and vaccines, has named Tim Hanke as its vice president of commercial operations. He will be responsible for moving the company’s OncoVEX GM-CSF product to commercialization.
Hanke joins BioVex having previously served as director of global commercial operations at Genta Inc., a biopharmaceutical firm also dedicated to cancer treatment. Prior to Genta, he worked for Chiron Biopharmaceuticals and Berlex Laboratories Inc.
OncoVEX GM-CSF is a cancer treatment, which BioVex calls an “oncolytic vaccine,” made to destroy cancer cells without harming healthy cells. The treatment is currently in a Special Protocol Assessment (SPA) Phase 3 study for melanoma, and the FDA has approved it for a Phase 3 study for head and neck cancer, also under SPA.
