General Dynamics hits on $8.6M IT contract

General Dynamics Corp.’s Information Technology Division has landed $8.6 million to provide IT services to the U.S. Marines, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Under the contract, which came from the U.S. Army, General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) will work on a program called Marine Corps Enterprise IT Services, which is intended to modernize the Marines’ IT systems. Work on the contract will be performed in Needham, as well as in Kansas City, Mo., and Stafford, Va. Work on the contract is expected to be completed by May 2010.

In July, General Dynamics Information Technology won $6.1 million from the U.S. Navy to design computer networks for submarines.

General Dynamics is headquartered in Falls Church, Va., and employs about 93,000 people worldwide.
