EMC Corp. announced Monday it will acquire Archer Technologies, a maker of IT security and risk management software.
Hopkinton-based EMC (NYSE: EMC) said Archer’s products will be integrated into the company’s RSA Security division to augment its products that keep sensitive data from leaving corporate networks.
“You can’t manage what you can’t see. The Archer solution not only offers the visibility into risk and compliance that customers need, it brings stronger policy management capabilities to the RSA portfolio,” said Art Coviello, president of RSA, The Security Division of EMC, in a statement.
The Overland Park, Kan.-based company’s products allow companies to set up, manage and monitor compliance of rules on how data is protected. It can either be integrated into existing IT infrastructure or delivered as a web-based service.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. EMC officials expect the acquisition to close in the first quarter of 2010.
