Jingle rings up $6.75M in new funding
Billerica-based directory assistance service provider Jingle Networks Inc. has taken in $6.75 million in its latest round of funding, according to federal documents. The company, which operates the toll-free 1-800-FREE-411 service, has now raised a reported $82 million since it was founded in 2005.
No one was available at Jingle Networks to speak with, and the documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission do not specify the investors in this round, aside from noting there are nine. Listed as boards members on the filing are Ken Bronfin of Hearst Interactive Media, Chip Hazard of Flybridge Capital Partners, Josh Kopleman of First Round Capital, Louis Toth of Comcast Interactive Capital and David Berkman of Liberty Associated Partners LP.
In June of 2008, Jingle Networks, which was launched in Burlington, moved its headquarters from California back to the Bay State, first landing in Bedford. At the same time, the company replaced its CEO with co-founder and then CTO Scott Kliger.
Jingle Networks provides free directory assistance supported by advertisers, and has attracted advertisers that include McDonald’s Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Ford Motor Co., according to company officials. The company noted in June of 2008 that it had reached profitability in the second quarter of that year.
