Clinical Data, DHZ study value of genetic markers
By Mass High Tech staff
Clinical Data Inc.’s PGxHealth division, which develops the Familion line of genetic tests, has formed a research collaboration with Deutsches Herzzentrum (DHZ) of Munich, Germany. The collaboration is intended to study the value of genetic markers, particularly in relation to clopidogrel, the anti-platelet medicine typically known as Plavix.
Researchers plan to study people taking clopidogrel with regards to genetic response to the drug and genetic predictors of future heart attack events. Currently, research has shown polymorphism of certain genes has affected clopidogrel response levels. Study results are expected next year.
Clinical Data (Nasdaq: CLDA) is developing early- and late-stage targeted therapeutics and genetic and pharmacogenomic tests that detect diseases and help predict drug safety, tolerability and effectiveness.
