
Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. has landed more than $200 million in two deals from the U.S. Army, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
The Stratford, Conn.-based company brought in $171.1 million from the Army for UH-60M helicopters for the United Arab Emirates. Sikorsky will have to engineer the helicopters to a specific configuration for the UAE, according to the Department of Defense. Work on the deal will be performed in Stratford and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2012.
The company also landed $29 million to provide the Army with UH-60M and HH-60M Black Hawk helicopters. The contract funds the fifth year of a multi-year contract. Work on this contract will also be performed in Stratford and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2012.
Prior to the two deals, Sikorsky had brought in $183.7 million in defense helicopter contracts in December. Last week, the company brought in $163.8 million from the U.S. Navy for fighter helicopters for the government of Brazil. Sikorsky also landed $8.4 million from the Navy for engineering on helicopters used by the U.S. Marines and $11.5 million from the Army for work on night vision-compatible lights and vibration control technology for Army helicopters.
Sikorsky is a subsidiary of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). United Technologies reported a net income of $1.1 billion on revenue of $13.4 billion for the quarter ended September 30.
