GE to make $86M in Naval aircraft repairs

By Brendan Lynch

General Electric Co.’s Aviation division has brought in $85.7 million to repair and replace aircraft engine components, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Under the deal, GE’s Lynn-based Aviation unit will repair and replace T700 engine components used on the Navy’s H-60 Blackhawk helicopter and AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter. Work on the contract will be performed in Arkansas City, Kan., and is expected to be completed by September 2014.

Earlier this month, GE Aviation landed $28.1 million from the Navy for engineering on jet engines. Under the deal, GE (NYSE: GE) will provide engineering and logistics services on the F414-GE-400, a jet engine used in the Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter jet, which is manufactured by Boeing Corp.

Fairfield, Conn.-based GE reported a net income of $2.5 billion and revenue of $37.8 billion for the quarter ended September 30.
