Nexx Systems notches Series D up by $1.2M
By Mass High Tech staff
True to its word, Nexx Systems Inc. of Billerica has added to its previously announced $4 million Series D round, this time bringing in an additional $1.24 million from a rights sale to its existing investors, according to federal documents.
Nexx Systems, which makes processing equipment and advanced packaging applications for chip makers, raised $4 million last month in a fourth round of financing led by existing investors Enterprise Partners Venture Capital and Sigma Partners. At the time, Stan Piekos, CFO of Nexx Systems, said the Series D round was still open and could reach as much as $8 million by the time it is closed.
With 84 employees in Billerica, Singapore and Taiwan, Nexx Systems had growth in the past year, at a time when the overall semiconductor capital equipment industry was down by approximately 40 percent, Pietkos said.
In October of 2008, Nexx Systems named 20-year semiconductor market veteran Tom Walsh as its president and CEO, replacing Richard Post, who continues to serve as chairman of the board.
