GlassHouse Technologies Inc., a Framingham company providing data center consulting and services, has added to its roster by acquiring vcare Infosystems AG, a Swiss firm that offers information management services in storage, backup and data archiving.
While no financial details of the deal were released, the purchase gives GlassHouse a strong presence in mainland Europe, and deeper offerings in e-mail and document archiving, according to officials.
Vcare was founded in 2001 as PROACT Datasystems, a part of the Swedish PROACT IT group, and in 2004 the Swiss management team executed a management buyout and later changed the company name to vcare Infosystems. Vcare has offices in Zurich, Switzerland, and Munich, Germany.
