
Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. has landed $11.5 million from the U.S. Army for work on night vision-compatible lights and vibration control technology for Army helicopters, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Under the deal, Stratford, Conn.-based Sikorsky will perform engineering on night vision device-compatible rotor head light and ECP 4035 for active vibration control installed on MH-60S aircraft. Work on the contract will be performed in Stratford, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2012.
Last month, Sikorsky partnered with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. to manufacture aerospace components in India. Construction on a joint manufacturing facility for making helicopter components is planned to be completed in 2011, with production beginning in 2012.
Sikorsky is a subsidiary of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX). United Technologies reported a net income of $1.1 billion on revenue of $13.4 billion for the quarter ended September 30.
