EnVivo drug study again prompts signs of Alzheimer's reversal
By Mass High Tech staff
A new study has returned promising results for modifying and potentially reducing the effects of Alzheimer’s disease — supporting previous test results from July that returned the same behavior reversal qualities.
EnVivo Pharmaceuticals Inc., a drug developer in Watertown, has found in a study of its gamma-secretase modulator, EVP-0962, that it helped lead to a reduction of the peptide AB42 associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
The independent study was conducted with Amorflix Life Sciences Ltd., which supplied its A4 assay to determine an increase in AB42 for animals with Alzheimer’s disease.
Privately held EnVivo focuses on drug development related to central nervous system disorders, including Huntington’s disease, in addition to schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. The company last received funding in the amount of $65 million from a fourth-round venture capital financing, led by Fidelity Biosciences. In April, the company announced that it had signed a licensing agreement for its schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease treatment, EVP-6124, with Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corp. (MTPC).
