Avid signs biggest 2009 suburban lease
Audio and video company Avid Technology Inc. has committed to a 10-year, 203,000 sq. ft. lease for a new company headquarters in Burlington’s Northwest Park.
Avid, currently in Tewksbury, is leasing the Class A office and R&D space off Route 128 from Nordblom Co. and Nordic Properties. Avid is scheduled to move into three buildings in the complex in June, occupying all of 75 Network Drive and 10 North Ave. and the first and second floors of 65 Network Drive. The complex will feature an elevated pedestrian bridge connnecting the two Network Drive properties.
According to Nordblum, the lease is the largest of the year in suburban Boston.
Brian Hines and Michael Dalton, partners at FHO Partners represented Avid. Jones Lang LaSalle Managing Director Tamie Thompson, Executive Vice President Dan Cordeau, and Assistant Vice President Dan Kollar represented Nordblom in the transaction.
Northwest Park is a 285-acre property located at the Route 128 and Route 3 interchange.
Outcome Sciences renews lease in Kendall Square
Outcome Sciences Inc., a provider of patient registries, studies, and technologies for evaluating real-world outcomes, recently renewed and expanded its office lease to 29,647 square feet at 201 Broadway in Cambridge. The Colliers Meredith & Grew team of Joe Flaherty, Tucker Hansen and Ben Coffin represented Outcome in the transaction with the landlord, The Davis Cos., represented by Duncan Gilkey, senior vice president.
Built in 1988, 201 Broadway is a Class A office building located in Kendall Square, just three blocks from the MIT campus and surrounded by numerous technology and life sciences industry companies.
Day Software lands new office in Fort Point area
NAI Hunneman brokered a 3,887-square-foot office lease to Day Software AG at 320 Congress Street in Boston’s Fort Point Channel/Seaport District. Bonny Doorakian, a senior associate, and Jeffrey Becker, senior vice president, both of NAI Hunneman, represented the landlord, Congress Plaza LLC, in the transaction. Bryan Sparkes of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the tenant, Day Software, based in Basel, Switzerland, is a provider of content management and content infrastructure software. The Boston location is a new office for the company.
Bitstream, New Energy Alliance settle in Marlborough
Bitstream Inc. moved its corporate headquarters to 500 Nickerson Road in Marlborough from 245 First Street in Cambridge. Bitstream will occupy 26,801 square feet of office space on the second floor of the 82,423 square foot building. Bitstream, a software development company, was represented in the transaction by Cushman & Wakefield. John Lashar, partner, and Paul Leone, senior vice president at Richards Barry Joyce & Partners LLC represented Normandy Real Estate Partners at Marlborough Technology Park. In addition, New Energy Alliance signed a new lease for 25,671 square feet of office space on the first floor of 300 Nickerson Rd. in the Technology Park. NEA was represented in the transaction by CB Richard Ellis, and RBJ represented Normandy Real Estate Partners. New Energy Alliance is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc. and M.J. Electric LLC, a Quanta Services company to support the delivery of an electricity capital investment program in New England.
IDG units renew leases in Boston and Framingham
Richards Barry Joyce & Partners has announced two headquarters leases that the firm brokered on behalf of International Data Corp. (IDC) and its parent company, International Data Group (IDG). The leases total 142,754 square feet of space in Framingham and Boston.
In Framingham, IDC and IDG renewed a lease at 3 and 5 Speen St. The company leased all of 5 Speen St. and two floors of 3 Speen St., for a total of 127,303 square feet of office space. The buildings are located in the Point West Office Center and house IDC’s headquarters. John Lashar, Michael Joyce, Paul Leone, Richard Bradbury and Brian Cohen of RBJ represented the tenant. The landlord, Carruth Capital, LLC, was represented internally.
In Boston’s Back Bay, RBJ brokered a lease renewal for IDG’s corporate headquarters at One Exeter Plaza, located at 699 Boylston St. The 15,451 square feet of office space are on the building’s 15th floor and the penthouse.
The building landlord, Boylston Properties, was represented by Jones Lang LaSalle.
Engine Room Edit moves to Berkeley Street
Rick Lowe and Mike Bannon of CresaPartners in Boston represented Engine Room Edit in an office lease of 4,100 square feet at 142 Berkeley St., Boston. Engine Room, a video and graphics editing company, is relocating and expanding from 364 Boylston Street in Boston. The new office space is located on the second floor of the five-story building. The owner, SE Berkeley Street LLC, was represented by Ken Girvin of Chandler Co.
