Gerber Scientific buys fashion-oriented software firm Yunique Solutions

Gerber Scientific Inc., a South Windsor, Conn.-based automated manufacturing systems and software maker, has acquired Yunique Solutions Inc., a developer of product lifecycle management software intended for the fashion industry.
New York-based Yunique Solutions develops its plmOn and srmOn products on Microsoft’s .NET platform to address materials management, digital asset management, line management, sample and production planning, specifications management, quotation and bid management, and process tracking and management.
Gerber Scientific makes its software and systems for the sign making, specialty graphics and packaging, apparel and flexible materials and ophthalmic lens processing industries.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

In recent years, Gerber Scientific has added a few acquisitions, including Canada-based laser technology maker Virtek Vision International Inc. in 2008 and Wilmington cutting-machine maker Data Technology Inc. in 2007.
