Ultrasound technology developer BK Medical has struck a distribution deal with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems to make BK’s urological and surgical ultrasound products available to health care providers in its network.
Under the three-year agreement, MedAssets Supply Chain Systems will include BK Medical’s products in MedAssets’ group purchasing organization services lineup. Alpharetta, Ga.-based MedAssets has more than 1,700 health-care providers using its purchasing services, according to BK Medical.
Denmark-based BK Medical, a subsidiary of Analogic Corp. (Nasdaq: ALOG), has its U.S. headquarters in Peabody. The company develops and manufactures diagnostic ultrasound equipment, including ultrasound scanners specially designed for surgery and the investigation of urological disorders, as well as pelvic floor, anesthesiology and radiology scanners.
In other news, BK parent-company Analogic cut 85 positions from its global staff — 58 of them in Massachusetts — in August. In July, Analogic founder Bernard Gordon stepped down from the company’s board of directors as part of his planned retirement. Gordon founded Analogic in 1967.
Peabody-based Analogic reported a loss of $280,000 for the quarter ended July 31, 2009.
