2009 Tech Citizenship honoree: SoftInWay Inc.
SoftInWay Inc. has a very specific niche for its software product and keeps its charitable efforts focused on that niche. The Burlington-based company makes 3-D design software for turbomachinery — the interior parts of everything from jet engines to car turbochargers to giant, steam-driven generators at power plants.
Being so focused on that space has meant SoftInWay has chosen to donate its software product to universities that offer courses that fit into its space.
“Our goal at SoftInWay is to create intelligent tools that both enable the engineers of today to inspire future engineers to build a greener tomorrow. Driven by this mission, every year we donate our software to universities with promising engineering programs and we organize educational seminars all over the world to teach best practices in turbomachinery design,” said Leonid Moroz, president and CEO of SoftInWay.
Already in the first part of 2009, three universities were granted access to the educational suite: Tsinghua University in China, Namik Kemal University in Turkey and Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding in Ukraine. Previous schools adopting SoftInWay’s AxSTREAM product include Louisiana State University and The Ohio State University.
