ClickSoftware closes AiPoint asset acquisition

By Rodney H. Brown

Work force management software maker ClickSoftware Technologies Ltd. has closed on its previously announced purchase of the assets of Israeli company AiPoint for approximately $1.5 million in cash.

In return for the $1.5 million, ClickSoftware (Nasdaq: CKSW) will get AiPoint’s technology, customers and employees. This will boost the functionality of ClickSoftware’s existing product line, officials said, as AiPoint develops and sells employee shift-planning solutions similar to those made by ClickSoftware.

ClickSoftware will integrate AiPoint’s software with its ClickRoster solution, designed to help field service organizations’ staff employee shifts. The deal was first reported in October, at which time ClickSoftware chairman and CEO Moshe BenBassat said that the purchase will allow ClickSoftware to expand into new industry verticals and applications.

For 2008, ClickSoftware reported a profit of $8.1 million on revenue of $52.3 million. The company has about 220 employees.
