Goodrich acquires Atlantic Inertial Systems

Goodrich Corp. has signed a deal with J.F. Lehman & Company to buy Cheshire, Conn.-based AIS Global Holdings LLC (Atlantic Inertial Systems) for about $375 million. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year, following government approvals.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Goodrich (NYSE: GR) supplies aerospace, defense and homeland security services and systems. It has facilities in Chelmsford and Vermont.

AIS Global Holdings designs and produces ‘gun hard’ MEMS inertial sensors and navigation systems, as well as spinning-mass gyroscopes. The company employs 800 workers through its locations in Connecticut; Heath, Ohio; Totowa, N.J.; and Plymouth, U.K.

Goodrich officials said that AIS’ sales for 2009 are expected to hit $180 million, with expected growth in subsequent years.
