
Raytheon Co. reports it has won $197 million from the U.S. Navy for engineering on amphibious warfare ships.
Under the contract, Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems unit will perform engineering on the LPD 17 amphibious warship. Raythen will work on the LPD’s shipboard wide area network, integrated product data environment, total ship information management and integrated ship electronics architecture.
The contract comprises five one-year options, extending a contract originally awarded to Raytheon in 2005. Work on the contract will be performed at the company’s Seapower Capability Center in Portsmouth, R.I., and at Raytheon facilities in San Diego and New Orleans.
Earlier this month, Raytheon gave General Dynamics Corp. $17 million to build gun systems for the Phalanx Block 1B Close-In Weapon System and the Centurion Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System.
Waltham-based Raytheon reported a net income of $490 million on revenue of $6.2 billion for the quarter ended September 27.
