SV Life Sciences appoints new partners Ryan and Wachtman

SV Life Sciences, a life sciences-based venture capital firm, has added to new partners to its Boston office.
Patrick T. Ryan and James C. Wachtman will join SVLS after having worked previously for two of the venture capital firm’s portfolio companies.
Ryan joins SVLS from his prior role as managing director of Clark Street Ventures LLC. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of PolyMedica Corp. and, even earlier, as chairman and CEO of SVLS portfolio company Physicians Dialysis Inc. He has held earlier roles leading PrincipalCare Inc. and ImageAmerica Inc. Currently, Ryan chairs the board of healthcare cost management firm Broadlane; sits on the advisoary board of Ferrer, Freeman and Co.; and is a director for the Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center.
Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Rochester.
Wachtman joins SVLS after serving as COO for six years for SVLS portfolio company Laser Vision Centers. Prior to that, he worked as president and CEO for TLCVision, in addition to sitting on its baord of directors. He has also held roles with McGaw Inc. and Central Admixture Pharmacy Services.
Wachtman earned a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University.
Founded in 1993, SV Life Sciences runs five funds totalling about $1.6 billion in investments. The firm has a New England portfolio that includes Waltham-based biopharmaceutical Logical Therapeutics Inc. and Lebanon, N.H.-based Adimab Inc., an antibody discovery startup.
