John Frederick takes CFO role at Open Solutions

Open Solutions Inc. has named John W. Frederick as its executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective immediately. Frederick takes the reins from interim CFO Robert Davis, who will continue temporarily to work with Open Solutions during the transition.

Frederick joins Open Solutions having previously served as senior vice president and CFO of global encryption security firm SafeNet Inc. He also held roles of vice president, worldwide controller, interim CFO and chief accounting officer at SafeNet. Prior to his career at SafeNet, Frederick worked as director of business planning and analysis at Calif.-based AlliedSignal, Aerospace Equipment Systems; vice president of finance and CFO at Six Flags Georgia; and senior vice president of finance and corporate cntroller at Sunbeam Corp.

A certified public accountant, Frederick earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland.

Glastonbury, Conn.-based Open Solutions was founded in 1992 and taken private in early 2007, when it was acquired by Providence Equity Partners and the Carlyle Group in a deal valued at about $1.3 billion. The company develops data processing applications built on a centralized Oracle database with wealth management, interactive voice response, technology services, credit unions, payment systems and financial accounting tools.
