Environmental lab Alpha Analytical buys Boston Analytical

Two local laboratories are combining specialties with the announcement today of Westborough-based Alpha Analytical Inc.’s acquisition of Boston Analytical Pharmaceutical Services, based in Salem, N.H.

The buyout brings no changes to Boston Analytical’s staff, nor to its name, according to Alpha Analytical officials.

Alpha Analytical is an environmental laboratory that provides human health risk assessment through analysis of tissue, forensics, wastewater, storm water, sediment, water supply and air, solid and hazardous waste. The firm’s services also extend to analysis of metals, microbiology, air, organics and inorganics.

Boston Analytical
will add the firm’s analytical services and microbiological testing to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, nutritional, cosmetic and device industries.

No financial terms of the acquisition were disclosed.
